Abstract
The effectiveness and safety of selective apheresis column (SL-01, Selesorb TM) on SLE were evaluated using the columns installed in the regeneration system. It was found that hand-stiffness, erythema, rash and Raynaud's phenomenon were improved after the therapy. Reduction rates of anti-DNA antibody were 47% (case 1) and 38% (case 2) on the basis of the titers before and after the apheresis, while the adsorption rates of the antibody adsorbed on the columns against all the amount introduced to the columns were 56% (case 1) and 57% (case 2). Anti-cardiolipin antibody was also removed by 32% (case 2) on the basis of titers before and after the apheresis. Other laboratory data besides cholesterol after the therapy were maintained almost equal to those before the treatment. The operations using SL-01 columns installed in the regeneration system were conducted safely without any major side effects.
