Abstract
We have investgated the protein adsorption (albumin, β2-microglobulin, IgG, C3a) on the hemodiaf ilter (APS-180, PAN-22DX) clinically used for push and pull hemodiafiltration. The protein was illuminated by fluorescent isothiocyanate labeled antibody and the fluorescence on the membrane section was observed under a confocal laser scanning fluorescence microscopy. Both push-phase and pull-phase caused almost identical fluorescence on both APS-180 and PAN-22DX. We conclude that the protein adsorption is closely related to the microstructure and the material of membranes and the adsorbed prootein is not easily separated from the membrane.
