Recent advances in artificial kidney design would suggest the possibility of small portable and wearable types. The most attractive one is a therapeutic application of substances capable of adsorbing solutes. which are pathophysiological significance in uremia.
Our programe had been undertaken in developing newer sorbent-based type dialysis, one of which is directly perf using over column of activated charcoal.
On the other hand, REDY SYSTEM (CCI Life System, Inc.) is a type of sorbent-based equipment regenerateting dialysate, and clinicaly evaluated in USA.
This unique dialysate supplying system is operated only 5.5L of dialysate.
This paper is a clinical report of this system in maintaining long-term hemodialysis patients.
As a result, we encountered no undesirable complications or hazardous accidents in 29 dialysis. Patients were able to keep good salt-water balance, body weight and acid-base balance. But in some instances, we came across hypopotassemia in using those poorbuild.
