Abstract
The present study revealed that hemodialyser (blood flaw side) and blood line set were heavily contaminated with foreign particles which could not be observed on visual inspection. Coil dialyser and blood line set were primed with saline solution as usual and particles in the saline which flawed out from dialyser were counted with H I A C automatic particle counter and were also observed with microscope. Considerable numbers of particles (1144 particles in 10ml) were found in initial 100ml of saline, which flawed out from dialyser. They showed various size (5-500u), various shape and various color. Particles, remaining in dialyser after priming maneuver, were guessed to be injected to patient, mixed with blood flaw during hemodialysis.
