Abstract
A closed circuit of pulsatile flow pump-oxygenator named “Pulsatile Heart Lung Machine” (PHLM) was developed.
This system is consisted of two air driven pulsatile pumps, a membrane, a heat exchanger, a pump driving device, a halothane vapourizer, an electromagnetic flowmeterand a suction pump.
the caracteristics of this system are as follows;
1) pulsatile inflow from vein and outflow to artery.
2) relatively small priming volume.
3) good and easy controlability
4) easy to get sufficient perfusion flow during cardiac arrest.
5) compact machine in size.
This system will be able to be used in clincal long term extracorporeal circuration.
