We had developed the optimal control system of blood glucose level as a new artificial betacell, and reported previously. We employed quadratic linearized model proposed by Ackerman as the mathematical model of the blood glucose regulatory system in the human body, and applied for the first time. However, as we reported, it is necessary to estimate the parameter's value of this mathematical model correctly to perform the optimal control.
In the second report, we had tried to adopt the recursive least squares parameter estimation procedure to estimate the parameter's value, and in this study we have improved this algorithm to develope the stability and the ability of the parameter estimation procedure. We have carried out not only the digital simulation but also the animal experiments with diabetic dogs and confirmed that this procedure could estimate the parameter's value satisfactorily.
