It is intended to present a novel high-profit recycling technology for Al scraps (not only home and process scraps but also obsolete scraps which are discarded after their service life ends). This recycling technology is based on the new recycling concept, the effective utilization of scraps as high-profit materials, compared with the conventional concept, the goal of which is to produce high-quality recycled materials that can compete with the primary ones. High-profit recycling can be accessed by utilizing Al scraps as raw materials for Al cellular materials. This technology makes good use of the high viscosity of Al scraps in the molten state, which is the basic requirement for foaming Al cellular materials. This paper discusses the viscosity of molten Al scraps with regard to the viscosity of molten Al-calcium alloys, optimizing process viscosity for manufacturing Al cellular materials by foaming molten Al scraps.
