Abstract

Fusarium wilt (Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. Fragariae) is an important disease of strawberries, and disease resistance is one of the important traits in strawberry breeding programs. To improve the efficiency of breeding, we performed a linkage analysis of Fusarium wilt resistance. We produced cultured seedlings and runner seedlings of the F1 population derived from a cross between a susceptible variety ‘Tochiotome’ and a resistant variety ‘Asuka Wave’, and performed QTL analysis. The distribution of disease resistance suggests that one major locus and some quantitative trait loci are involved in the Fusarium wilt disease resistance of ‘Asuka Wave’, and we detected several QTLs including a region linked to the major gene on the ‘Asuka Wave’ linkage map.
