Abstract
The character of a crop plant, which is controlled by a major gene, has generally been selected in early generations. Little work, however, has been done to determine what generation is the best for selecting the character controlled by the major gene. “Uzu” is known as a character controlled by a recessive major gene in barley and is recognized as a kind of agronomic characteristics in southwestern Japan. This paper compares it with other agronomic characteristics among groups of F2derived lines selected for “Uzu” at different generations.
