Abstract
The inheritance of culm length and plant height in the rice cross of Sigadis×Taichung (Native) 1 is essentially controlled by one major gene with the semi-dwarf trait being a recessive character. Panicle length appears to be controlled by two genes with long panicles dominant to short ones. Duration from seeding to heading is governed by five allelic pairs of a polygenic-additive nature. Reaction to bacterial leaf blight isolate no. 72 appears to be conditioned by one pair of alleles with resistance incompletely dominant over susceptibilty. No strong linkage is detectable between any two of the three traits : culnm length, duration to heading, and reaction to bacterial leaf blight.
