Abstract

Heterosis in polycross was great in root weight and sugar yield, but small in sugar percent. In these three characters, positive correlation was recognized between the performance of parental strains and their polycrossed progenies, and the general combining ability was almost parallel with the parental performance. The general combining ability estimated by regression line was considered more reliable than the performance of polycrossed progenies.
