DEVELOPMENT OF SEISMIC RETROFITTING METHOD OF RC COLUMNS WITH THIN STEEL SHEETS GLUED AROUND AND HEAPED

Abstract

In urban areas, spaces under railway viaducts are often used as shops or warehouse.
When seismic retrofitting works of RC columns, it is required that the removal of equipments in obstruction should be minimized and the retrofitting should be finished in a short period without using construction machine.
We developed a new seismic retrofitting method which can be easily applied for those cases. In this method, many steel sheets with less than 0.8 mm thickness are glued with heap on the surface of RC columns. This paper reports the results of cyclic loading test by model column.
