STUDY ON MEASURES TO ENHANCE RESIDENTS' RECOGNITION AND UNDERSTANDING OF FLOOD HAZARD MAP

Abstract

In order to be effective tools for flood damage mitigation, flood hazard maps must be recognized and understood sufficiently by residents. In this paper, the author investigates actual efforts and issues to enhance residents' recognition and understanding of flood hazard maps. Then, as a case study, the author analyzes residents' estimation of a flood hazard map based on a questionnaire survey.
