Abstract
In this study, car commuters’ behavior at the event of downpour disaster in 2011was analyzed and measures for returning home difficulties was examined by developing a traffic simulation based on prove data and questionnaires. As a result, it took a longer travel time for the people who returned home early because the traffic jam and traffic closure occurred, and it took a shorter travel time for the people who returned home lately and avoided U-turns by obtaining traffic information in advance. Also, the returning travel time decreased and the traffic congestion was alleviated while the number of people who obtained the traffic information before their departures increased. The travel time and traffic congestion also decreased while the number of people who stayed at the company or hotel increased.
