In this study, we focus on the perspective of the sense of organic solidarity, and conducted a randomized controlled experiment to empirically clarify how the presence or absence of high speed transportation networks affect the sense of organic solidarity in the region. A web-based survey was conducted on 1,500 people in the Tokyo metropolitan area. The subjects were divided into three groups, and each group was presented with a white map, a map of the highway network, and a map of the high-speed rail network. The results showed that, compared with the network of highways that stretches across the country, the unbalanced high speed rail network has a significant difference in the sense of organic solidarity between the areas with the high-speed rail and the areas without it.
