COVID-19 didn't caused only health hazards but also significant economic losses through restrictions on social activities for the disease control. In this study, we examined the impact of the restrictions on the GDP of 44 countries in the second and third quarters of 2020, and confirmed that the restrictions significantly reduced GDP. In addition, focusing on the impact of government compensation for wages on the decrease and the recovery of activities in the G7 countries where data can be compared, we found that government compensation has increased the capacity for restrictions for the disease control and has accelerated enocomic recovery after the restrictions are lifted.
