Abstract

In this study, in order to contribute to the planning of national planning from a comprehensive perspective including geopolitics, by examining the government's administrative documents, Diet proceedings and literature, we analyzed geopolitical perspectives in postwar national planning in Japan and other countries, and examined the importance of geopolitics in modern national planning. As a result, it became clear that the geopolitical perspective in postwar national land planning has become weaker than it was before World War II in Japan; that geopolitics is taken into account in national land planning policies in Germany, the United States, the United Kingdom, and China. And it has been implied that geopolitics, which considers the meaning of land in politics theoretically and practically, is useful in understanding and addressing current issues in national planning. We also discussed and proposed policies and research that may be necessary in the future to deal with these issues.
