This study conducted hydraulic model experiments to elucidate the flood control performance of lateral inflow pavements, where stormwater drainage flows into the granular subbase laterally through the gutter sidewall. Comparing inflow under two-conditions - when the subbase surface was exposed to atmospheric pressure and when sealed with acrylic plates—showed a significant reduction in inflow with the sealed surface. Adequate ventilation proves crucial for ensuring a seamless lateral flow into the pavement, necessitating actions like installing exhaust vents at elevated positions.
