ANALYSIS ON RIGHT TURN ACCIDENT WITH ONCOMING VEHICLE CONCERNING ANGLE OF ROADS WHICH TWO VEHICLES RUN

Abstract

Right turn accident with oncoming vehicle was analyzed concerning angle of roads which two vehicles run to utilize traffic regulation, digital road map, traffic accident GIS integration analysis system. As a result, right turn accident with oncoming vehicle had occurred more on intersection that access road of oncoming vehicle is curved to left than access road is curved to right. Oncoming vehicle tend to be hidden in the shadow of oncoming right turn vehicle at this type of intersection, so right turn accident with oncoming vehicle had occurred more. This trend is remarkable on daytime or bad weather, on middle wide road or non-signalized intersection. This trend is also remarkable on work relative drive or right turning middle age driver, this is likely due to travel time restrictions.
