Abstract
Recently, the creation of the tidal flat is executed to improve the marine environment in various places as a habitat enhancement. However, it is difficult to obtain a good quality material as ea sand that is appropriate for creation of the benthos habitats. It is expected to implement a new material for the habitat creation such as recycling materials. On the other hand, the function of the dam has degraded by an increase of the accumulated soil. It also becomes a big problem that the removal of the soil accumulated at dam and the disposal of it in Japan.
This study aims to use the soil accumulated at dam effectively as a material for benthos habitats enhancement on constructed tidal flat. Soil properties, chemical characteristic and acute toxicity had been checked by indoor test. Habitat creation processes had been checked by meso-cosms and the field experiments at onsite. As a result, the soil accumulated at dam has shown good applicability for a material for benthos habitats creation.
