Abstract
To keep the performance of port facilities, the series of maintenance works, inspection, performance evaluation and countermeasure, have to be appropriately executed throughout their service lives. In 2013, Port and Harbor Bureau, MLIT carried out the urgent inspection of port facilities to understand the actual condition of deterioration and deflection in those facilities. This paper reports the result of the nationwide survey of cavity in the mooring facilities. The authors particularly analyzed the following topics: 1) Variation in the location of cavity in a quaywalls; and 2) Influence of cavity on the visually judged deterioration grades of the structural members, such as concrete and asphalt aprons, steel sheet pile and cooping concrete. Based on these analyses, the future action policy for the cavity detection and countermeasures were discussed to achieve the strategic maintenance of mooring facilities.
