Abstract
Alternative ports are necessary to continue the national and local economy after large-scale earthquakes/tsunamis. Aftermath of the Great East-Japan Earthquake, ports at Tokyo-Bay and on the Sea of Japan functioned as alternative ports. In that time, the capacities of many alternative ports reached the limit. Against this background, this study (1) developed the method for estimating alternative ports and (2) applied this method to estimating alternative ports of scenario earthquakes/tsunamis for Tohoku Regional Port-BCP. As a result, it was revealed that handling capacities at alternative ports in Tohoku region weren't enough after large-scale earthquakes/tsunami. Based on this estimation result, each port will make effort to increase its capacity as an alternative port.
