Abstract
In recent years, research and development of environmental improvement using industry recycled materials is being carried out. PS ash and dredged soil are also one of them, and it is examined to use as materials for shallow water and tidal flat. Regarding the use of PS ash in water area, however, the influence of pH was concerned. Hence, we carried out an experiment in sea area to confirm the applicability to benthos of the modified soil using PS ash which pH was almost the neutrality and the dredging soil.
As a result, many benthos and short-necked clams appeared in the modified soil as being equal to or greater than the sand as the control. Therefore, it was suggested that modified soil may be used not only as tideland material but also as habitation ground materials for short-necked clams.
