The fisheries industry in Tohoku district suffered devastating damage from The Great East Japan Earthquake, as a result of which production and distribution in Sanriku area, one of leading supply centers of fishery products in Japan, were delayed in a certain period of time. The fisheries are related to many business field categories so that the scope subject to investigation is diverse. At the same time, know-how to analyze the restoration process and address the issues toward early restoration has not been accumulated yet. Therefore we investigated and analyzed the restoration process of production and distribution of fishery products centering on fish markets in Ofunato area in Iwate prefecture stricken by The Great East Japan Earthquake. The study suggests the following matters as an effective measure for early resumption of fisheries: 1) Prior deployment of machinery such as forklifts necessary for eliminating earth and sand which flew in fish markets and fishery products processing factories and for removing damaged machinery or consideration on acquisition channel thereof to stricken areas, 2) Prompt construction of a system to dispose of rotten fishery products, and 3) Construction of a backup system of claims and obligations data by cloud computing.
