Abstract

Yuigahama Beach in Kamakura City is a pocket beach of 2.2 km length and is located between Zushi Marina and the reclaimed land on the east side. Both ends of the shoreline of this beach became erosive and beach width decreased owing to beach erosion, damaging fishing port facilities during sorm waves and recreation on the water front. Accordingly, sand backpass from the central part to both ends of the pocket beach has been taken since 2011. However, still beach has been eroding. In this study, beach changes since 2007 were investigated using aerial photographs and numerical simulation using the BG model was carried out. Finally, a beach nourishment plan to maintain sandy beach in the entire area of the pocket beach was found.
