Abstract

This study focuses on the decrease of slip coefficient in high strength bolted frictional joint in which the bolts are placed in grid and staggered arrangement. FEM analysis has been carried out to clear the slip coefficient in long joints. As a result, it was clarified that the decrease of the slip coefficient was related to the relative displacement between the connected plate and the splice plate determined by structural dimensions in the joint, the slip/yield strength ratio, and converted joint length calculated by placed all bolts in grid arrangement. Furthermore, relational expressions were proposed with the relative displacement, the slip/yield strength ratio, and the converted joint length to estimate the decrease of the slip coefficient.
