Abstract

This study is a nursing practice initiative that aims to address challenges in childcare support within pediatric departments by developing and piloting childcare support tools. In collaboration with the childcare support team, discussion meetings were held to create three tools: a “Childcare Support Flowchart,” a “Childcare Support Sheet,” and a “Childcare Support Leaflet.” Childcare support was implemented using these tools, after which interviews were conducted with team members to analyze staff perceptions of childcare support. Consequently, seven categories were extracted, including “Childcare support provided in pediatrics is unique and family oriented.” The results of this initiative were shared within the organization. Overall, the use of these tools clarified the process and goals of support and enabled the visualization of support practices. Moreover, the emergence of perspectives linking hospital care with community resources was a significant outcome of the study. Future challenges that should be addressed include strengthening collaboration with local governments to establish a seamless support system across the community.
