Authors have been studied on the mechanical behavior of the metal wire reinforced epoxy resin composites and found out that the ductile fibers tend to increase the fracture toughness with less effect on the strength of the composites. In this paper, the tensile fracture behavior and the fracture toughness of such three kinds of unidirectional fiber reinforced composites as Mo/Epoxy, W/Epoxy and Mo-W/Epoxy (hybrid), in which the ductile annealed molybdenum wire and the brittle tungsten wires were used, were investigated. It was found that in the W/Epoxy composites a linear relationship exists between fiber volume fraction and critical stress intensity factor, meanwhile in the Mo/Epoxy and hybrid (when VWf/VMof=0.16) composites the critical stress intensity factor apparent by increases with crack growth. The crack branching was often observed.
