Flexural failure behavior of unidirectional laminate FRPs reinforced with carbon fiber and aramid fiber were studied. A flexural experimental investigation has been carried out on carbon/epoxy (type C), aramid/epoxy (type A) and C/A hybrid (type A-C-A, C-A-C) laminates. As the results, it was found that 1) A kink band was observed for type A and type A-C-A at the compressive surface near the loading point by a low level flexural load. 2) The load diflection curves of type A and type A-C-A had a knee point, and loading over the knee point, a white regions was observed at the compressive surface near the loading point. 3) The stress at the knee point of type A and type A-C-A was lower than the critical stress of microbuckling calculated by the Dow's equation. This reason was caused by the decrease of the observed compressive modulus of aramid fiber producing kink band. 4) Tensile and shearing fracture was observed for type A and type A-C-A over the maximum load. The scale of the shearing fracture of type A-C-A was smaller than that of type A's, and this was caused by the support of CFRPs layers. 5) Shearing fracture was observed for type C and type C-A-C at the compressive surface near the loading point over the maximum load. This fracture was induced by a microbuckling of carbon fiber, and was arrested at the AFRPs layers.
