Abstract

With the transformation of traditional crafts and the development of Taiwan's cultural and creative industry, small-scale exhibition spaces that are extended from craftsmen's home-based workshops have been provided for public visits and craft exchange and promotion. However, due to various problems, such as exhibition design or limited budget, the predicament lies on which dimension should be prioritized for improvement. This study was conducted in two stages. Experts were invited to build “the design indicators for small-scale exhibition spaces” by the modified Delphi method in the first stage. The design criteria had a total of five dimensions and 20 factors. In the second stage, the AHP was employed in expert evaluation to obtain the priority of indicator factors. The results of the study acquire the following opinions of experts: 1) Focusing on the exhibition, emphasis attached to overall spatial planning and highlighting craft characteristics; 2) Attaching importance to the basic demands of exhibitions, with emphasis on collection and interaction considerations; 3) Funds and maintenance are closely related, affecting the quality and service life of the space; 4) Prioritize design of circulation, exhibitions, sites, and the exterior image of the overall spatial planning.
