Social Roles of Digital Museum

Abstract

“Digital Museum” began as an alternative to display in an exhibition room, using high-resolution image data. The concept of it has gradually changed to an expansion of museum experience and comprehension by digital technology and many technical trials have been carried out to date. This essay introduces some types of digital museums on the Internet during the COVID-19 pandemic and discusses that digital museums have possibilities to help social inclusion that real museums couldn’t have done.
