Seismic Retrofitting of Senbon Dam with Prestressed Dam-use Anchors

Abstract

Senbon Dam reinforcement work is a seismic retrofitting of the Senbon Dam, which was built about 100 years ago and is a dedicated water supply dam, using Prestressed Dam-use Anchors method, which is the first construction in Japan. In the seismic retrofitting work of gravity type concrete dams, a thickening method is generally used to add new concrete to the upstream and downstream of the dam body, but a method that does not affect the appearance and allows the dam to be used during construction was applied. We will report on the technical issues of Prestressed Dam-use Anchors construction method and the countermeasures aimed at ensuring quality and process.
