Abstract
The cable crane is often adopted as a way of transporting concrete in the construction of concrete gravity dams. The cable crane's placing capacity is highly dependent on the operator's skill, in combination with the work of the signalman. Improvement of construction capacity and safety is the first goal to accomplish, though the number of skilled operators and signalman is not enough these days. To solve this problem, we developed an automatic cable operating system, which makes positions and controls vibration at the same time. The cable crane is on end traveling type, with capacity of 14.5t. This report describes the outline of the automatic operating system and the results of actual field tests. These tests have confirmed the feasibility of this system.
