The number of embedded software engineers is insufficient though the importance of embedded systems has increased rapidly. Embedded software engineer education in universities is not developed enough to solve this problem. In addition, HW/SW co-design method has been introduced to increase productivity in many enterprises. However, there are few examples of teaching this method in universities. In this paper, the method of HW/SW trade-off experiment for graduate students is proposed. The target of this research is training embedded SW engineers who have knowledge and technology related to hardware. The proposed experiments consist of HW/SW Characteristic Understanding Experiment, HW/SW Trade-off Determining Experiment, HW/SW Co-design Experiment, and Verification Experiment.
