Abstract
Komatsu College has been engaged in the development of an engineering education program through the collaboration between the college and a manufacturing company group. Both parties intend to form industrial engineers who are in short supply by making best use of their respective strengths. Specifically, under this collaborative education program, liberal arts are taught by the college faculty while specialized subjects are instructed by the group staff, which leads to effective education. However, in order to evaluate the effectiveness of this program precisely, it is essential to have feedbacks from the students. In this article, we have taken a survey of the students and graduates of the program to find out the relevance between the subjects offered and their current job responsibilities. We have also asked same questions to their supervisors and compared the responses of both groups. The comparison shows similar opinions and different perspectives between the two, which indicates the necessity to review the current curriculum.
