In the School of Engineering at Tokyo University of Technology, we are promoting the “Education program to produce electric vehicles (EVs) driven by renewable energy” with the aim of enabling students to learn practical science through manufacturing. In this project, students in the School of Engineering produce EVs through extracurricular activities. In the last three years, we have participated in three off-campus races for energy conservation with small carts, and produced the first large-scale EV in cooperation with three departments in the School of Engineering. The following measures have been taken to maintain the motivation of the students : leader meetings to unify the goals of teachers and students, coordination between teachers and leaders, participation in off-campus competitions, and social gatherings that are fun for the participants.
