Education of Strength of Materials by using the Desktop Experiments

Abstract

In order to improve the lecture of the strength of material, I have been constructing some real experiments, which can be proceeded on a small desk during lecture time (90minutes). By the experiment, students construct things, think something, and find something by themselves. The presented desktop experiments can be carried out as easier and cheaper than the virtual experiments by using multimedia. In this paper, some results from the desktop experiment for the strength of materials are reported. Moreover, the lecture by associating the CAE tool and the desktop experiments is reported.
