It is important to provide students with many experimental programs in control engineering upon which they understand the physical phenomena of control system and develop controller design skills. The experimental seesaw control system described in this paper includes a stepping motor as the actuator, and a combination of potentiometer and image sensing device to generate feedback signals for the seesaw angle and the roller position, respectively. The employed control methodologies are the minimum-time control and the optimum regulator, making comparative study with the human control performance. Human control action is executed by the aid of a joystick device.
