Abstract
The practical exercise program of mechanical engineering, which is designed as a predesign project in the first semester of the freshman course, aims to give students strong incentive to the specialized studies. The highlight of this course is to let the students have experience learning such as machining, welding practice, deassemble-reassemble-operation of actual machines and tension test of carbon steel. Through this pre-design project, the students understand how mechanical working and measurement, machine elements and construction, and mechanical properties of materials relate to the specialized subjects. After the completion of the pre-design project, the students are encouraged their motivation to the specializd studies in mechanical engineering.
