Compulsory subjects, mechanical drawings I and II, have been opened in the author's department of mechanical engineering. The subject of mechanical drawings II was divided in two in 2003, one was a compulsory subject and the other an optional subject. Reduction of lesson hours means a lowering in students' scholarship, namely students who can not understand the mechanical drawings will be graduated. Several changes deriving from the change from compulsory subject to an optional subject will be reported in this article. Moreover, an ill effect of decision by majority and professor's ethics will be discussed.
