The results of field measurements of the indoor climate of the model houses and a survey for the occupants under the "open cooling (OC)" in Sapporo during the summer are described. The indoor climate in "OC" is more comfortable than in "closed cooling (CC)" and the occupant's imagined temperature is about 1 °C lower . During the “CC”, the airflow is mechanical, dominated by the fluctuating rhythm of air blown from the air conditioner. On the other hand, in "OC," the strong cold air from the air conditioner is agitated here and there in the room by opening a high window to allow the heat generated indoors to escape efficiently, thereby moderating the airflow. This is an expected benefit of OC.
