Food crop failures and poor growth due to climate change instability have become major problems. One solution is plant factories. While plant factories enable stable production, they also pose the problem of increased lighting and air conditioning loads. In this study, a plant factory at Meiji University has been studied with the aim of proposing an air-conditioning system that provides an excellent growing environment and saves energy. In this paper, we report the results of a CFD reproduction of an existing plant factory and an investigation of the energy-saving effect of improved insulation.
