A micro-hydropower system using a breastshot impulse water turbine was installed at drop-off of waterway and its power characteristics was investigated. Comparisons were made between fixed and swing installations of the turbine. Over the operating range of the system, the power in the swing installation was found to be comparable to that in the fixed installation at low flow rate and slightly higher at high flow rate.
