Abstract
Colorectal cancer screening is important for personal health checks and accuracy control is necessary for proper screening. Here we show the unification of accuracy control management for the whole prefecture in Fukui-ken. When considering the management of screening for personal health checks for colorectal cancer, it is necessary to understand the key characteristics. The recall rate for further examination in colorectal cancer screening for personal health checks was high and the cancer detection rate (in particular, early cancer) was significantly high compared with the findings of a mass survey on colorectal cancer. To raise the recall rate for further examination it is necessary that examinees are not aged, and that the screening organization can perform detailed examinations. We hold training seminars and classes periodically. We performed 49213 (a mass survey 40144 and personal health check 9069) colorectal cancer screening tests in Fukui Prefecture in 2011. The rate of cases requiring close examination of screening for personal health checks for colorectal cancer was 5.6%, the percentage of examinees who underwent detailed examination was 76.2%, the cancer detection rate was 0.35% and the positive predictive value was 6.34%.
The precision of the mass survey was similar (respectively, 4.2%, 77.8%, 0.20% and 4.77%). Accuracy control in Fukui-ken was good overall.
It is necessary to establish a quality assurance system and management of the screening program.
