“ Kihonkei ” and a Principle of the Modern Sculpture

Abstract

This study to investigate an abstract form named “ Kihonkei =basic form” by researching of the pieces of wood that thereremains from the making process of the wooden sculpturemasterpiece “ Statue of Shimazaki Toson sensei “ by Ishii, Tsuruzowho represents modern Japanese sculptor.
Direct carving by Ishii is positioned in the opposite side of pointingtechnique which was the classic technique and in this way, itbecame clear to be the epoch-making technique to reach modernitythat should be compared with Cubism.
