Abstract
This study discusses the pursuit of new graphic expressions for the work “Green Town Ensemble” presented by Soma Yokoi Architects as part of the selected works exhibition in the SD Review 2024. The project likens the planned office building to the stage of an ensemble drama. The spatial composition, characterized by a split-level floor structure, evokes the qualities of various theatrical stages that portray the diverse stories and personalities of its users. Structural elements, openings, and furniture that support various activities are referred to as stage motifs-devices that evoke memory and attachment, playing a role in enhancing the stage. This study presents how spatial compositions, individual narratives, and the landscape of the site overlap from one angle to depict a scene where multiple stories intersect. They are represented as a ‘Layered Pictorial Projection in Oblique Axonometric Projection,’ and the study provides an illustrated explanation of both the process and the method behind this form of representation.
