Abstract
We propose a new method for unfolding polyhedrons. With our method, we firstly place all polygonal faces on an unfolded plane, then gather them by connecting faces regarding the connectivity in 3 D. We call this method 'face-gathering approach' and the established method 'sequential approach'. We compare both methods in view of the ability of generating lowcost patterns. And we also denote that our approach is applicable for generating reasonable patterns such that are symmetrical and directions of faces are preserved.
