Formation of a Foundation for Children's Manga Publishing in Showa Prewartime and Wartime

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to clarify the publishing situation of children's comics in Showa prewartime and wartime based on various materials. The percentage of comic pages in the space of major children's magazines and the number of titles and circulation of children's comic books indicate that the basis for children's comic book publishing after the war was already formed during this period.
