Abstract
In recent years, university education has been required to foster not only specialized knowledge but also Competencies for Social Participation. In this paper, we propose a community-oriented education model for developing Competencies for Social Participation. However, in such an active learning method, it is important to maintain the independence of the students. Therefore, in order to complement the studentʼs independent learning, we propose the use of an online virtual environment to foster independent learning-oriented students. With the education model constructed in this paper, it is possible to expect that students will be able to act independently on their own initiative and practice effective regional cooperative education.
