We have performed a series of Whiteside Ortholoc II total knee replacements since 1987. Thirty-five cases (48 joints) were reviewed for this study; 27 joints with osteoarthritis (OA) and 21 joints with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) . The follow-up period ranged from 13 to 31 months. Thirty-eight joints were replaced using bone cement.
Clinical results were evaluated using the JOA scoring system. The mean score for OA cases was 76 for the cemented group and 74 for for the cementless group. For the RA cases, it was 73 for the cemented group, and 83 for the cementless group. There were no significant differences Roentgenographical analysis showed that femoral and tibial surfaces had been cut almost exactly as they should have been. The mean postoperative femoro-tibial angle was 175°±3.8° No loosening or sinking of any coponent has been seen as yet. The major complications in our series were one case of fracture and one case of dislocation of the patella.
